How we help
From a child's first assessment to family training, schooling and vocational skills — every program meets people where they are.
Program
Sponsorship to children aims at bringing all children into the mainstream of life and reducing school dropouts among underprivileged children. Many parents, despite being poor, are determined to provide their children with a good education.
Arise and Shine provides an educational opportunity for both urban and rural children by offering substantial financial and moral support to families who struggle to afford schooling.
Every sponsored child is a step toward a family breaking the cycle of exclusion — kept in school, in community, and on a path they choose for themselves.
Program
CBR is a strategy within general community development for the rehabilitation, equalization of opportunities and social inclusion of all people with disabilities. It is a systematized approach whereby persons with disabilities are enabled to live a fulfilling life within their own community — making the best use of local resources while helping the community recognize its responsibility to ensure inclusion and equal participation. In the process, PWDs are also made aware of their own role and responsibility as part of that community.

A parent-training model focused on the holistic development of children under 6, delivered through play.
A flexible parent-training timetable paired with hands-on coaching for students at home.
Beyond the Arise and Shine campus, assessment and screening of high-risk babies also takes place at Government Hospital, Karur.
Advisory & Referral
Individual assessments, program planning, interventions and follow-ups are carried out for every family that comes through Arise and Shine, with monthly follow-ups to track progress.
During July 2020–2021, two children from Dindigul came for an initial assessment and stayed with us for a week so the family could be trained.
Families are supported with structured, once-a-month follow-ups — keeping progress steady long after the first assessment.
Program
30 beneficiaries were grouped separately according to their motor ability. Sessions on the mat and in standing were made fun with engaging play activities.
An outing was organised each term for children and their mothers — visits to the local Anna library, climbing to the top of the lighthouse, and animal cart rides at Royal Chitran, Chowki Dhani. Children also loved their first on-stage moments at school events like Sports Day, the Christmas party, and Vikasa, the annual play.
Early Intervention children hold the wall rail in front of the mirror for daily Peto sessions, and enjoy animal cart rides at Royal Chitran with parents and staff.
Early Intervention and Home Management children dressed up for the Christmas play, and crawled through a tunnel during the inclusive fun sports day.
Program
Rehabilitation is only part of the picture — families also need emotional support and to know their rights. These two units work side by side: one caring for the wellbeing of students, trainees and their families, and the other making sure that knowledge of disability law and access to legal aid reach the people who need it most.
Prioritizes the emotional and social well-being of students and families through individual and group counselling. About 50 home visits and community assessments were conducted based on family needs, alongside work nurturing values and emotional regulation among day-centre students and adult trainees at the production and vocational centre.
Raises awareness of disability laws among individuals, families and organisations; expands access to free legal aid; and advocates for the effective implementation of inclusive disability legislation, working alongside policymakers to foster an inclusive environment and helping individuals confidently advocate for their own rights.
